This title was from one of my favorite authors, John O'Donohue. It's exactly how I felt photographing this scene. It was one of my favorite moments, if not favorite moment of my fall trip. Late in the afternoon, I was shooting over near Telluride, Colorado trying to decide what I was doing for sunset. The clouds had disappeared over Wilson Peak and the divide didn't have any clouds either, but I decided to head back toward Dallas Divide to capture sunset. As I drove to the top of the Divide, I could see there were no clouds over the peaks, but there were amazing clouds over Mt. Sneffels. Sunset was quickly approaching and I had to decide whether to shoot some shots with my zoom lens from far away or take a chance and get myself closer on one of the county roads. County 9 was the closest to me and I knew just the spot I could shoot from...it was just a matter of making it in time. I raced toward County 9 and headed up. As I got closer to my "spot" the clouds were already lighting up. I just kept going hoping nothing would slow me down, like the countless cows I usually run into, lol. But, there were no cows, barely any traffic and I made it with minutes to spare. I jumped out, setup my shot and had about 5 minutes to shoot a couple panoramics before the light faded. I felt blessed to capture this scene!
