I was challenged by Mary Siegle @mcsiegle to make a still life composition with at least five different objects I have chosen and arranged myself. Any objects were fair game. Extra points if one or more of the objects are ones that I would not ordinarily think of combining with the others.
WELL, I do not know whether the skull of the cow would really qualify as an object that I would not normally think of combining with the rest - as I did think of it!
However, it is an object that MOST people would not think of combining with the rest! It does fit with this western theme though.
Well Mary, here is my still-life! It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do, but I did finally come up with a game plan. Hope you like it - it was fun! @mcsiegle
Wendy, this is just wonderful. It all fits together so well. I love the background you chose. Being able to see through the slits between the boards gives it depth. I think the objects are very well chosen and the skull adds a great finishing touch.
good one! I especially like the green peeking through the slats. This upcoming week we've been paired and I'm suggesting that you try the opposite of a still life, to capture 'motion' somehow. This can be done through panning or spinning the camera slightly when shooting with perhaps a higher aperture then you'd normally use, or double exposure, post processing etc. Whatever way you choose...'k?
Excellent. The cow skull could make a subject all on its own. Love the cowboy theme, very creative. Would be interested to see a sepia toned version 😌😌
I really like this Wendy, fav. Interesting choice of theme and objects too, that all tie in together with the great setting. You composed the picture really well and I like your editing style too.
Such a great composition and collection. I like how in this instance the gun is for purposes for work and part of the era I am thinking this represents.
Great response to the challenge. Love where you set this up. I see others have mentioned the slatted wall but I really like the hay (or straw? I don't know the difference!)
@granagringa I set this shot up in one of our south facing shelters that has straw bedding in it. The lambs that were in the shelter thought I was nuts and kept a good distance from me!
