Blue Jay by farmreporter

Blue Jay

Our oak trees are heavy in acorns at the moment, which happen to be one of the blue jays favourite foods. The jays spend as much time chasing each other off of the tree as they do trying to get the acorns! It is much fun to watch the jays in the trees but very difficult to catch a good shot of them.
What a pretty bird it is, different to our jays - link here - https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=picture%20of%20English%20jay&qs=n&form=QBIR&pq=picture%20of%20english%20jay&sc=0-0&sp=-1&sk=

Our jays are quite shy birds which makes them difficult to photograph, I don't think I have ever got a shot of them. You did well to capture this one!

@stephanies Thank you for the link. I am amazed at how many jay varieties there are around the world. Even here in Canada, we have four different varieties, some in the west and some in the east (where I live).

I don't know about jays, but whatever kind, I really like the play of light and shadow.

What a beautiful jay! I don't think I've ever spotted one but they sure are gorgeous.

Ah ok so that explains better the Blue Jays dominance of the suet feeder that we hung - on a young oak tree, lol!
