According to Wikipedia, the Saint Lawrence Seaway is a system of locks, canals and channels in Canada and the United States that permit ocean-going vessels to travel from the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes, as far inland as the western end of Lake Superior. But Highway H2O, as it is affectionally known, is far more than that. It is an engineering marvel that was first proposed in the late 1800s, and finally opened in 1959. Six villages and three hamlets along with many farms were flooded in Ontario during construction.
The banks of the St. Lawrence River are heavily populated with very few spots to pull over to take pictures. This is one of the few public places I was able to stop at to watch the ship pass by.
Lovely photo of the ship passing through your river but it's the foreground that makes this picture so different. Love the gravestones overlooking that busy waterway.
A perfect place for the final rest, looking out over that magnificent river, and the passing ship gives a thoughtful contrast between the past and the present.
What about the cemetery as a subject?
