We have an ancient Transparent apple tree (that is the variety) in our backyard that only produces every second year.
This is the year! It is absolutely loaded with birds and blossoms at the moment with the goldfinches flitting in and out of the branches as they go to the hanging feeders.
For the 52 week challenge - our backyard - that tells the story of our immediate area.
I spent the day trying to capture birds in my tree and at the feeder. Ha e spotted a couple of new visitors. No luck capturing the newbies and limited with the other birds but a wonderful time trying. Did you know some birds eat fruit tree blossoms? Wonderful mix of bird and blossom.
The composition and depth of field is beautiful! I didn't notice the bird at first because it blends in so well, but once I noticed the color and light is so complimentary... I love it!

Thank you, ladies. I really liked how the bird blended in with the background. I find it is a happy surprise when you see it in the photo - much like it actually is in reality. Brings a smile to my face every time I see them hiding in the tree!
@joansmor
I didn't know that they ate the blossoms - that is probably why I have so many in this tree! A day is not wasted when you learn something new!
@stillwaters I was considering cropping the photo tighter but I really like the reaction a person has when they discover the goldfinch when they stop to really look at the photo - such a pleasant surprise. (but I did title my pic birds and blossoms to give a hint to look further!)
@francoise
I have a ton of bird feeders and a busy backyard so the finches do not usually fly too. That said, I cannot get too close to them - I was on my back deck using the longest lens I own to get this shot - which was cropped a bit.
I took a ton of pics to get this one!
Wendy, I am Kathy, your get pushed partner this week. I am more than amazed by your photography. I am now following you and look forward to seeing more of it. I am assuming that you still have a cat. If not, you can use a dog. I would like a high key photograph of your cat (or dog). Okay?
Hi again Wendy, so I have looked at some of your work and read your bio on your profile page. I read that you have noticec how you have changed as a phphOtographer since strating 365 so for uour challenge this week can you find a way to represent that change in one - or more - shot? In any way that you wish. Have fun!
