Sunset Cows by farmreporter

Sunset Cows

I went out hoping to capture a gorgeous sunset shot but the sky did not cooperate. So, all I got was this hazy scene taken into the setting sun.
I really do not understand why there are evenings that have sunsets with such rich, vibrant colours and then there are nights when the sun just fades into darkness.
Ah, the mysteries of nature!
I get that with sunrises too ... this is still a lovely picture with beautiful light

Even if this was not what you intended - the light is wonderful and I feel it is a lovely calm day-into-night shot Wendy

A
In many ways this is better than the generic sunset photo - the lovely golden light just catching the cows and grass is fantastic

It IS a sunset shot! Lovely light.. it's Physics! If the unobstructed light from the sun strikes water in the atmosphere then the blue end of the visible spectrum is scattered away into space while the red end continues its path to the cows and trees.

Thanks, David! I never knew that - and now my day is not wasted since I have learned something new!
