Hand-me-down Cast Iron Frying Pans by farmreporter

Hand-me-down Cast Iron Frying Pans

My Mother-in-law passed on her old cast iron frying pans to me many years ago and they have sat in the bottom of my cookware drawer ever since.
So, I hauled them out, dusted them off, and seasoned them with some cooking oil for the mundane challenge (at least I know what to do with cooking utensils - LOL!)
I have been told that once you use a cast iron frying pan you will never want to go back to a regular one.
Well - I am not fond of cooking so I am sure I would not notice the difference!
Anyway - I think I will return the favour and pass these jewels on to my oldest daughter who truly does enjoy cooking and will appreciate them.
What gems! My dad cooked with an old one of his mom's that was reportedly found in the coal cellar when she first moved into her house (in the 1920s, perhaps?), so we never knew how old it actually was.

I love cast iron but I can't use them on my glass top stove.

NIce rusty pans.

They have such a great patina! I know it's a word you use usually fir wood but I love the richness in those pans. Long time duty cooking food!

Just look at that patina! I'll have them ...they wouldn't lie neglected in my cookware drawer!

Cool POV and I love your story about not being fond of cooking either. I did notice however that you prefer hand crafts so for your get pushed challenge this week, show us some of your hand crafted items in a collage that shows the process you use (if that is possible)
