He is 160 year old Douglas Fir that had died in my sister's yard, and rather than take him down, my sister decided to have the 30 foot tree carved into a Spirit Tree.
She contacted Dean Ross, a chainsaw artist with the Canadian TV hit series "Carver Kings" which is shot right in Williams Lake to do the job.
We hope Firdinand lives on for another 160 years!
My mom is doing well - it is just going to take time now for her to recover.
