Our Wetland by farmreporter

Our Wetland

While I have been faithfully posting a shot of the old driveshed for the 30 Shots Challenge in my Themes and Challenges album, my main album has been seriously neglected.
It's the old "not good enough to post" syndrome that I compulsively suffer from.
So - on my way to fix this, here is a regular photo of our wetland.
I am proud of this wetland. It alone stands as a piece of natural habitat surrounded by fields drained for agricultural use. It is essential that the environment be able to sustain both humans and wildlife otherwise we both perish.
brilliant you are conserving wetlands with the news today that so many frogs and amphibians are dying out

As Shanne says, it’s very good to have and keep a place were amphibians can live!

I love a wetland, they feel like the nurseries of nature, brimming with life. Well done you.

That messy, untouched look is magic! Our Land for Wildlife program has a wonderful saying; "resist the urge to tidy up!" Is this wetland on your property? :)

@robz
Yes it is - and we get serious urging to drain it, clear it, and turn it into productive farm land.
But - it is productive as it is - just that it grows food for creatures other than human!

@farmreporter I love your approach - it's wonderful that you have kept it as it is and resisted the urging. :)

Wetlands are so crucial for certain species and plants to survive. You definitely captured something beautiful here!
