My Get Pushed partner this week, Liz Hammond @lizhammond challenged me to produce either an ICM or to follow a Gavin Hoey tutorial. Liked the sound of both of these, so here is the ICM.
@lizhammond Hi Liz, went to the beach this evening to shoot the moon but failed miserably. Played with ICM instead. Hope this one is acceptable to you. I found it fun but difficult because the sunset was reflecting beautifully on the wet sand but within minutes the darkness had descended. I had to lighten the shadows on this quite a bit. The other difficulty I experienced was with the number of rocks on the beach and in places heavy overhead cloud. With ICM this left large dark streaks which weren 't particularly attractive at all.
A great view and capture of this nice beach. Love the tones and colors.
( You`re very welcome , but to find places like my pic.`s you`ve to know the country very well. But there are many beautiful other ones,)
Your experience sounds very like any ICM I've tried! Well done on such a great photo & adapting to the scene before you.
Apologies if you are a 'SOC' shooter, but if you wanted to reduce the black bits I think I might have been tempted to crop it into a more panoramic shape having the lovely white surf line lapping over the beach come out of the left lower corner. This would crop out some the dark bits you mention but would make it more abstract too - so it depends on your taste. I like the ones that look like foot prints that are being washed away.
Glad you have enjoyed the challenge. Great response and well done on all the favs & comments too :-)
