Groynes and Mist by fbailey

Groynes and Mist

No need to comment, my addiction to long exposures shows no sign of abating any time soon ... went to the beach for a sunset panorama and ended up playing with these instead. The best fun!
Great view and capture. Love the leading lines made by the poles

The long exposure really highlight the pilings ... Are they left over from a different time or still used today?

@hrb73 As far as I know they formed part of the sea defences left over from WW2. I think their use today is limited to photographers!

Wonderful line

I like how they appear to disappearing in a mist rather than water.

It's so well done! Long exposure is worth extended focus -- have fun with it!

Beautiful and moody.

The dark harshness of the poles amidst the misty water is very striking. I sometimes don't like the long exposures of water but this really caught my eye, fav

I am enjoying your seascapes and they get better and better. Beautiful and so well done. I still need to master this technique. Fav

Gorgeous simplicity.

Lovely long exposure - lovely contrast of the smoothness of the water against the strong black poles.

Lovely image, Felicity. I like long exposure shots, but have had limited success. Shots like this make me want to give it another go :)

A beautiful spot for long exposure, the water is so silky.

What a great subject for a long-exposure. This is a Fav for me as is but had it been mine (fat chance!), I would have cropped off the sky at the top and edited out the orphan groyne brace at bottom right - they both pull my eye away from the leading line of groynes. I hope you don't mind me saying...

@vignouse Not at all, both valid points, and will remember next time. Thanks for taking the time!
November 27th, 2017
I almost agree with Richard.. @vignouse... definitely about the sky. I would have tried to exclude that 'orphan' groyne when framing the shot but I wouldn't resort to software to remove it. Fav anyway. No need to apologise about your long exposure addiction .. just give us more!
