On top of the hills overlooking the Alkham Valley, Dover to the left and Folkestone to the right. The hills don't look particularly steep, but tell that to my knees:)
Lovely landscape. I wonder if you have ever read a book by Richard Llewellyn with this title.
It is a 1939 novel, narrated by Huw Morgan, the main character, about his Welsh family and the mining community in which they live. The author had claimed that he based the book on his own personal experiences but this was found to be untrue after his death; Llewellyn was English-born and spent little time in Wales, though he was of Welsh descent. Llewellyn gathered material for the novel from conversations with local mining families in Gilfach Goch.
@gijsje I have read it but many years ago, too many to think about! This was the reason for the title, but I didn't expect anyone else to have read it:)
Wonderful landscape, I would be ok going down the hills, not so much back up! I seem to recall many many years ago, watching either a film or TV series, I cant remember much but I'm sure it made me cry :)
They look plenty steep enough to my eye, and my knees agree. Lovely rural shot with the path through the wheat crop to lead my eye right into the background.
