I was starting to experience beach withdrawal so today headed down there to play with the new ND filter. At last, I can take this sort of shot in the middle of the day instead of going down there pre-sunrise or just before sunset ...
@pistache Do try it Clare. I haven't got a light meter and practically always use my vintage Nikkor lens for everything. You can only use it in manual mode. The chap in the camera shop ordered this for me then scared the life out of me with technicalities. So I Googled how to use it and experimented in the garden for a day or so. I set the shutter speed to say 15, focussed on the water, screwed on the filter and shot. If it looks blown out I just close the aperture down till it looks ok. Strangely this guess and press method I'm playing with is turning out to be great fun:)
@golftragic Such fun Marnie ... am hoping to catch blurred people and clouds streaking acris2s the sky and movement in wheat fields on windy days ... so many possibilities if I can get the hang of it:)
