We are in the business of making images...we have a wide palette- and every aspect of that palette is fair game. The viewer just sees the final image and assesses that. However in a forum like this.. I guess if you have a very successful image...we want to know how so we can try too. I think this is just the place for experimentation and getting feedback. Keep up the good work.
@hrs Thanks Helen. I started out trying to produce a faux IR image using Elements - not too successful. Bought an IR filter but struggled quite a lot with the processing as I don't have full Photoshop. Found a v cheap IR converted camera on EBay and am trying to get to grips with processing. Pictures I think will work often don't and it's very much hit and miss at the moment. It's not successful shooting into the sun but for the clouds and foliage to stand out, you need a bright day. All a learning curve!
I like it a lot. I'm intrigued with this IR thing. Checked out ebay, no dice. Now wondering if I can get a Canon 550D that's in the back of the cupboard converted to IR for a reasonable sum.
@golftragic Hi Marnie, it's cheaper to get a camera converted if you have a spare. Think in the UK it's about £80. You need to check though if your camera can 'see' infrared. To do this you need to take a pic of the TV remote when you turn it on and pioint it at the camera. Look forward to hearing how it goes:)
It's so good to be able to see the same place taken with both your normal camera and the IR camera. You've really got this whole IR photography skill mastered. This scene just suited it so well too. :)
