So there I was, standing in the footpath outside the house waving dandelions in the sky. I was hoping to capture a little stream of seeds wafting towards the house next door (just because that was the way the wind was blowing) but no matter how much I waved my arm, the seeds stayed tightly attached.
@lostphojo I don't know how you process yours, but I change the Red and Blue channels in Channel Mixer which gives everything a blue hue, add a Gaussian blur filter to the original layer copy and then have a play in Viveza and if I want b&w I add Silver Efex to the adjusted Hue/Saturation layer. If I want a sepia effect, I follow Gavin Hoey's tutorial www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3zR2ceOZWU Is this anything like the process you use?
Mine only come out in B&W because I chose a sensor that responds to a wavelength of 830 nanometers... that's well into the IR range and it can't respond to visible light of any colour. If I want colour I have to add it in software. I do use Silver Efex to process the b&w jpeg that the camera delivers. I never follow anybody';s tutorials! If I want sepia toning I use the filter in S Efex Pro
@lostphojo I Googled something like "best examples of IR photography" and found some real stunners which had a slight colour overlay added - guess the only way to achieve this particular effect is to take two cameras out and try to replicate the exact scene ... am also hoping for fog as apparently IR sees right through it which sounds intriguing. Night photography is another avenue I'd like to explore at some stage. Dream on girl!
@fbailey If I use infra red film I add a filter to block the visible light. Then I can't see through the lens (if I'm using an SLR) so I need to another camera or a light meter to check the exposure
