@helenhall They certainly seem to have a strong bond. I think the loss of their natural habitat and Harry Potter have had some influence here. Barn owls in captivity can live up to 20 years apparently, and this one is very well looked after.
@shutterbug49@golftragic I think if you rear any bird from a hatchling it will imprint upon you. Out of curiosity I Googled pet owls and babies seem readily available. You have to have a special licence for them though and understanding neighbours as they can be extremely vocal!
