Sorry about the original title! The last picture for the theme of Forms of Nature. A very wet and windswept day today, I did think about taking a storm tossed sea shot but decided to stay indoors in the warm instead.
Starting tomorrow the subject is Architecture - have a feeling I shall struggle with this topic.
Your macro succeeds in highlighting the delicate shapes of the lichen because your close range focus is neat and also because you have isolated one subject so that the dark background delineates other echoeing shapes. I notice all that better now, because I have made some unsuccessful attempts with lichen this week.
Very nice shot. Lichens are a great advertisement for cooperation between two different species (algae and fungi). Maybe our species can learn from it! (Ha! Fat chance of modern humans co-operating with anything! Although with imminent demise and in the face of total extinction, necessity might bring about something drastic!
