100 Strangers # 15

This is another charming man I met in Deal while trying to photograph the pier, which is closed off due to reconstruction work.

I was sitting on a bench on the seafront taking shots of the beach when he walked by and started chatting. We had a conversation about the closure of the pier, the 365 project and then the 100 Strangers project.

He very kindly agreed to participate, and his name is Ernest:)
Another great portrait. His friendliness comes through in the photo.

great technique and your looking up viewpoint creates quite a dynamic look .
Are you shooting with a manual lens (or vintage lens) as the exif info does not show aperture / focal length ?

@phil_howcroft Thanks Phil:) Yes, I have a prime lens I use practically the time that's been adapted to fit digi cameras. It's a Micro Nikkor 55mm 1:3.5 and apparently It's quite fast. If you get the focus right it's quite sharp. I can only use it on Manual as that's the only setting the camera recognises. I stick to f5.6 most of the time and just play around with the settings till I think I've got it right. Think the lens is about 30 years old. Hope this helps:)

@fbailey it does a good job and you can sort of tell from the photos that is has a lovely feel of film quality . Most of my strangers are done on a 50mm prime . I have a wide angle manual lens for my Sony. Prime lenses are ideal for portrait street photography
