And now the thaw ... by fbailey

And now the thaw ...

The melting snow and the rain have increased the flow in the rivers. This is the River Dour as it finds its way through the ruins at Kearsney Abbey, Dover.

Processed with Silver Efex. Not quite how I wanted it to turn out, but perhaps I should stop looking for perfection because I'm not going to find it!
Nice effect with the water try a bit more contrast and darken down the brickwork, it might place greater emphasis on the water. Good POV Felicity 👍

@fujiguy Thanks for that! I paddled around some brickwork to try to get this and hoped I wasn't going to fall in, the camera is not waterproof (nor am I)

Nice effect with the longer exposure on the water. I agree with james's point above but having shot a water fall the other week I know it's a tricky challenge :)

Lovely silken waters

Great shot - not easy to get the water so silky looking - you did great! I didn't even notice the brickwork at first.....

Love this

You've got the water captured very well, but I too agree about perhaps darkening the brickword.

This is really great! There is a ETSOOI (water) challenge that ends on Tuesday that this would fit nicely in.

BTW - we are get pushed partners. Would it be okay for me to issue your challenge tomorrow? I am exhausted at the moment - too much playing in the snow today and need to hit the hay.

I can hear the water in my mind---beautiful

Nice long exposure.

I can hear the roar of water too.

Hope that there is no flooding because of the thaw. That happens a lot on rivers and streams in the more northerly parts of the US beginning around this time of year.

Lovely shot, a sign that Spring is close by.

We live on top of a hill, and everything here is soggy - hate to think what it's like everywhere else...
