An early remembrance of the National Hero's birthday. Dr. Jose Rizal is the National Hero of the Philippines. He was born on June 19, 1861. He was a Filipino nationalist, novelist, poet, ophthalmologist, journalist, and revolutionary.

Dr. Rizal was the author of the 2 novels, Noli Me Tángere (latin word for Touch Me Not) and El Filibusterismo (lit. Spanish for "The Filibustering or also known by its English alternate title The Reign of Greed) and a number of poems and essays. He was executed on December 30, 1896, by a squad of Filipino soldiers of the Spanish Army.
