Zom-bee

Remember this shot? I've cropped it down. This was the bee photo-bombing the little tree frog.

All I knew was it was a bee with weird eyes, and he was going to land right next to the tree frog -- and he did!

I didn't know what he was, with those light-colored eyes. I sent an ID request to www.bugguide.net. It sometimes takes them a few days because I think the requests are handled by volunteers. I now know he isn't just a weird bee, but he's a broad-banded leafcutter (likely male). Or, to the scientists, a Megachile latimanus.
Cool!
