Thought nothing would get my slippers off tonight.... then I looked up at the sky and got out there.....!
Thank you everyone who stopped by over the last couple of days - I love sharing these snaps with everyone and your comments always make me glow!
WOW! That is totally amazing!!!
Hey I've just noticed you live in Bedfordshire! I used to live just outside of Bedford, a small place called Shortstown before we moved to Cape Town about 23 years ago :) Small world huh!!!
Is that Ixus not a point and shoot? I used to have the Ixus 100 and never even attempted a moon shot with it. How, I ask you with tears in my eyes, how did you get this detail?! Incredible!
@ozziehoffy Oh my giddy aunt..... thanks for telling me, I would never have even looked - I'm 'over the moon' about it!! (sorry awful pun... it even hurt me!!) =)
How do you do that? I can't get that much detail and I have a point and shoot and according to additional info that's what you used as well. I'm starting to feel like my moon shots suck in comparison to everyone else's that I'm seeing. They are so much better than mine. Great job.
Holy mackeral! Fabulous shot! I had to show my husband this and he asked if you traveled to the moon to get this shot! I can't figure out the EXIF either. I looked at my camera and just scratched my head.... and +fav!
I don't normally do 'thank yous' en masse like this but I've been blown over by the response to this shot and had to say so! Thank you, thank you for all your kind comments.
I'm so pleased you liked it, I just love seeing the moon and when I see it up close through my telescope - like I did this time - I'm just awed by it. My little camera can barely capture a bird on a tree so I enlisted the help of my telescope, took a shot with the macro setting (!) and this was the result. I hope that takes the mystery away for those of you clever enough to understand the exif info! (Which I can't!)
I'm gob-smacked to have been on the popular page and just delighted to have shared this wonderful sight with you all.
Enjoy your weekends and keep snapping your fabulous shots! xxx
PS I should also add that I held my little camera up to to telescope viewfinder and held it very still while doing a 2-second delay to try to avoid any shake from the shutter release button. Also played a little with the light coming in (as I have recently found out how to do so and it's a new game) but have no idea which setting it was on for this one. Looking out for the eclipsed moon now but don't think it's high enough for me to see - hope if you can see it you enjoy it. :)
This is incredible!! You used the same camera as my P&S and I'm blown away by this. I've only captured decent moon shots since I've had my DSLR and zoom lens and they're nothing on this shot...amazing and obvious fav xx
