We had breakfast in St Germain and meandered our way back to the Ile de la Cite where we found Sainte Chappelle. Recommended to us by an American friend, it was nestled inside the Palais de Justice which meant a full security check and a long queue but inside the stained glass was a delight! This was the section downstairs, with smaller windows but glow from the light shining onto the roof took my breath away. Underneath is a statue of King Louis IX (later Saint Louis) who had this built. Amazing to think at one time they thought to destroy it, but needed somewhere to keep their papers and thought it might as well stay.....!
