Spring is on Hold by fishers

Spring is on Hold

Way back in mid February, we had a few beautiful sunny but cold days which made it feel like spring had almost arrived. One of the shots I took then for my solo project was of a bud, poised and ready to burst into leaf ( http://365project.org/if1/365/2013-02-17). One of my followers suggested then that I could take regular shots as it burst into bloom. Well, here we are, over a month later, and I've been keeping an eye on it, so here is another shot to show how little has changed (apart from the weather, which has taken a serious turn for the worst!). It's as if nature is waiting patiently and ready to go, but just needs some sunshine and warmth to burst into action. I think many of us in the UK feel the same!

Great close up and a nice capture of the bud ( Is it a chestnut bud ? ) http://365project.org/pyrrhula/365/2012-05-19

Hope this poor but hasn't been frozen past redemption!

A great close up of the bud. I was reading in the paper the other day that horse chestnuts are unprecedentedly late in bursting this year.

I like the close up Ian, shows such detail in that little bud waiting for the sun

You are right in that not much has changed in a month. I suess we will all have to just wait

@pyrrhula

Thank you Pyrrhula - it does look like a chestnut bud, but they are usually sticky and this one isn't, so I'm not absolutely sure. I love your shot of the chestnut tree in flower!

Thank you Hazel - I hope it hasn't been damaged too, because I want to do a series of shots as it opens out!

@dolphin

Thank you Molly - I'm amazed how little change there has been to this bud since I first took a shot of it over a month ago.

Bob
That is a cool shot of this bud. I see some around here are forming nicely, but with our blizzard today and tomorrow, promised, it will probably be a little set-back.

This shot says it all really - interesting to see that the poor thing hasn't moved on at all!

@bobhuegel

Well Bob, I don't expect to see much change here for a while - the latest weather forecasts for the Easter weekend say it could easily be the coldest on record - that's one record we could do without!
