Eagle Owl by fishers

Eagle Owl

Katharine was in town when she spotted a birds of prey display, but didn't have her camera with her, so later on I went into town to have a look.

The birds were in the grounds of Holy Trinity Church, hidden behind the shops in Goodramgate, in the centre of York

There were quite a few different birds, and especially owls, and here is one of my favourites, an Eagle Owl. I love the bright eyes, and the way he/she just perched there despite the crowds around.

There wasn't any flying of the birds, but for a fee you could have one perch on your arm. There was quite a crowd of spectators while I was there
Great owl photo!!!

As someone who had a bird phobia this is a bit close for comfort for me - but I can appreciate the detail and sharpness of the shot - so a fav!

Reading your last paragraph makes me wonder if they are tame as you talked you could have one on your arm.. this is a very nice portrait of an Eagle Owl.

@bruni

Thank you Bruni - they are fairly tame, but if you wanted one to perch on your arm, there was a thick gauntlet to wear, to avoid the risk of a nip.
