The late afternoon sun rests on the horizon and is reflected in the River Ouse here in York. Flood water is receding. The tree is on the bank of the river, with the remaining flood water in the foreground, and in the background beyond a bank.
We are very fortunate in York to have good flood defences, and much of the city is protected. Here I'm walking along one of the flood banks. This area is deliberately flooded at times of risk, to reduce the height of any floods in the city centre, and as you can see here, and in Katharine's shot earlier in the year ( http://365project.org/fishers/365/2014-01-16), it can look quite beautiful.
At the same time I recognise the damage and heartache that flooding can cause, and my thoughts are with all those in the south and west of England who have recently been affected.
Thank you Padlock - we are very fortunate to have good flood defences in York, and even more work is just about complete to further protect another 400 houses where a flood bank needed more height after being almost overtopped a few years ago.
Thank you Angela - some parts of the country have had a really bad time, but fortunately it hasn't been too bad here in York The floods weren't too severe this time and only affected a very small number of properties.
Thank you Shepherdman, glad you like it!
