Dad and I had a 'rest day' today (and still walked miles), but it gave us chance to reflect a bit on what we saw at Versailles yesterday. This is a shot of the middle section of the main chateau, built progressively from 1668 to 1710. It certainly came a long way from being a hunting lodge, which was its original purpose. Louis XIV made Versailles into the renowned chateau it is today, spending vast sums of money to make it THE place to be.
You can just see the edge of another wing on the left, and there's another on the right of the shot, but it's incredibly hard to get it all in. The scale of the place is something you have to see in real life, no picture can do justice to it! - Lucy
Fav! Beautiful PoV and reflections. It certainly is a massive building! You would need a full week if not more to explore it all thoroughly - and the gardens too.
