A lovely sunny lunch time in the centre of Sheffield. Many workers were lunching in the park and the children were taking advantage of industrial action to splash in the water features.
The gardens are behind the town hall and are on the site of the old St. Paul's Church. Originally called St. Paul's Gardens they became known as 'The Peace Gardens' after the second world war but the name change was not formalised until 1985.
There are a number of splendid water features in this lovely open space in the heart of the city.
I have to admit that these gardens are always busy, but then they are in the centre of Sheffield at the back of the town hall. A lot of workers take their lunch there and shoppers rest, there are lots of bus stops near too. Katharine
