Katharine posted a shot on Thursday of her parents on their wedding day, sixty years ago ( http://365project.org/fishers/365/2014-07-24), and today we have a shot of them taken yesterday in their home.
Close family and friends gathered for a service of blessing and small celebration of their anniversary. Mum is now seriously ill, and was suffering the after effects of a fall a few days earlier, but she thoroughly enjoyed the day. She and dad especially loved seeing their grandchildren and great grandchildren, many of whom live and work too far away to visit often, and it was a good chance for us all to meet up with other members of the family.
Even to non-members of the family, this pic has a poignancy which tugs at the heart-strings. Thank you both for sharing such an intimate family moment with the 365 community... and may God bless them and make His light to shine upon them.
Thank you for all your kind and thoughtful comments and good wishes. Mum is recovering from her fall, but unfortunately we have been told that the cancer, which has been making her weak and leading to the falls, is terminal. She remains positive, full of faith and determined to do as much as possible with her remaining time, and I am spending more time in Sheffield with mum and dad at this difficult time. Katharine
I see so much love in their eyes. a truly beautiful picture. sorry you mom fell. hope she will feel better soon. so nice of you to be there for her and to spend some more precious time with your parents.
Such a lovely shot, hope your mum makes a speady recovery. Glad the family reunion went well, i expect lots of photos were taken and nostalgic trips down memory lane.
After viewing the one of their wedding day, this photograph reminds me of how quickly time flies. Well done to them for 60 years Married, and thank you for sharing this moment.
@bruni@lhart@gamelee@tonydebont@bobhuegel Thank you for your lovely comments. Ian was official photographer and captured some precious moments for us. Mum is strong in spirit if not in body and retains her sense of humour. Katharine
Thank you Lizzy, your thoughts and prayers are much appreciated. Katharine is back in Sheffield with her mum so she can't thank you herself, but she does know about and value your prayers
Hi Lizzy, thank you for asking. Katharine's mum is now in a hospice in Sheffield and is slowly getting weaker - it's simply a matter of time before the end, since the cancer has spread so far now. Katharine is spending 2-3 days a week in Sheffield with her mum. Her mum remains in good spirits and is happy in the hospice, and its nice for Katharine and her mum to be able to spend precious time together. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. How are things with you and your family?
