This is one of the first pieces of furniture to arrive at the house that Louise and Nigel are buying. I went over there yesterday for the day while the builders were in replacing the windows, and spent quite a bit of time sat in this chair while they worked.
In recent times my granddaughter Evelyn has discovered the delights of playing on this chair, pretending it's a swing. She is following her brother Oliver in this, because he loves to play on it too. But the story doesn't end there, because their mother and aunty (my daughters) played on it when they were young, and a generation earlier I played on it as a child when it was at my grandmother's house - in those days it was a horse, since I loved watching westerns.
So many memories through the generations attached to this rather battered and very well used rocking chair!
Congrats to Louise and Nigel for buying and living in there new home. hope for a long and happy stay. Great capture of this nice chair and long beautiful history. Thanks for sharing.
Also a big thanks for the fav, on my L+D pic.
Battered and well used but speaks of an age when items like this were a significant investment. Wonderful to have an enduring object that carries so much history, love and enjoyment. Fav
