Freight train, freight train......... by fishers

Freight train, freight train.........

While waiting to meet Ian at the railway station a few days ago, I spotted this freight train looking bright and cheerful. It reminded me of a song we used to sing at school about a freight train going"so fast". I'm not sure why that popped into my head as this one was stationary!

I showed Ian my efforts and was surprised when he said he hadn't got a picture of this colour scheme on a freight engine of this type. No doubt he will capture it for his archives at some point before they repaint it.

Oh yes I remember it well. Don't think I sang it at school though - thin it was on the radio. Peter thinks it was sung by Nancy Whiskey.

PS. He's just come in to say he thinks it was the Chas.McDivett skiffle group so I looked it up on Google. Guess what - he was right! What a memory. He was only 10 when it came out in 1957. Try this link to listen to the song! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QoKkXDPGmw

I remember this song from the 6.05 Special on the TV at 6.05pm on Saturday evenings. This programme is famous for being the first to bridge the gap between 6 and 7 pm - before that we had music and an 'Interlude' screen for an hour!
