I'd never really appreciated how attractive this building - Bedford Mews - was, yet I walk past it frequently as it's on the way from home to town. It sits alongside a main road (Bootham) which is a Roman road, still used to this day. It's been converted to apartments some time in the past decade and has had a modern extension at the rear. We know that before this it was a hotel that would probably have been built around 1900 - this Dad helped me discover by analysing a map of 1909 on which it appears. The interesting thing is that it's been almost impossible to find out anything about it, other than how much it costs to stay there! - Lucy
