I had a trip to St James' Palace on Monday so my fiancé could pick up his gold Duke of Edinburgh award. We weren't allowed to take pictures inside, but this is a shot of the outside. The palace used to be the residence of the monarchy, and although this has changed it is still the official court. It is not open to the public, as it is used mainly for official engagements and functions.
It was built between 1531 and 1536 by Henry VIII. Today it contains the apartments of Princes William and Harry. We didn't get to see them, but we did see Prince Andrew!
@dide Thanks Diane. Rather him than me, you wouldn't catch me dragging myself through 20 miles of mud, sleeping in a damp tent and doing it all over again the next day! - Lucy
