York is fortunate to have a number of cycle paths away from the road network, and sometimes through pleasant countryside. This track runs north-west from the city out to the National Trust property of Beningbrough Hall.
Here the trail passes the country park beside the park and ride site at Rawcliffe Bar, through a pleasant copse of trees which form an attractive arch over the route.
It is amazing how may trees still have leaves on them - this certainly doesn't look like what I would expect to see in December.
Thank you Pete - a little further out of the city there were hawthorn bushes by the cycle track, some with berries and some with blossom, so perhaps we aren't going to see completely bare trees this winter.
Thank you Brian, it's a lovely varied route, especially enjoyable on a nice sunny day.
