The Beauty of Geology by fishers

The Beauty of Geology

One of the galleries at Cliffe Castle Museum in Keighley contains a large selection of geological samples - estimated to be over 1000 in number. I'm not going to share photos of them all, but here is one that I thought was particularly attractive.

For those with a little more understanding than me, the label said "Geode with amethist". I checked in the dictionary - a geode is a round rock which contains a hollow cavity lined with crystals, while Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz often used in jewelry.
