York railway station this lunchtime, and a sad but busy scene as medical staff help an elderly lady who appeared to have had a fall.
First of all two railway staff who were first aid trained went to help her, then a paramedic on a bicycle arrived (much quicker around some of the narrow roads in York than an ambulance would be), and a few minutes later the ambulance arrived.
After a while the patient was moved into the ambulance. The medical staff must have been treating her in there since the ambulance didn't immediately leave for the hospital.
Hope she was ok in the end. A well reproduced scene to show the accident. Today I was swimming and their was a magisterial enquiry on a cabin cruiser very close to shore - I was so curious to know what was going on. Perhaps I will look into newspaper reports on the internet to check it out, later.
Thank you all for your thoughtful and considerate comments, they are appreciated.
I've no idea how the lady is - if the accident had been serious it would probably be on the local newspaper website, but there is nothing there yet. I'll let you know if I discover any further information.
Several of you also commented on the cycling paramedic. This has been part of the York scene for several years, since it is hard for ambulances to get through some of the narrow pedestrianised streets in the city centre, so this service is often first to reach the scene of a problem. It is impressive to see the cycling paramedic dashing through the city centre, with his siren sounding and blue flashing light!
