Boston Park lies to the south of Rotherham town centre, on the same ridge and close to where Rotherham hospital can be found. It was the first public park in Rotherham, and was created on land previously owned by Thomas Howard, Earl of Effingham. It was opened as a park in 1876.
The ridge gives views westward over industrial estates and the city of Sheffield, towards the higher ridges on the edge of the Peak District, but here they are all overshadowed by shafts of sunlight in a cloudy sky.

Although Boston Park gives good views west towards Sheffield, the views north over Rotherham town centre are sadly obstructed by trees.
