This shot more realistically reflects the conditions on much of my walk yesterday afternoon. Here I'm looking roughly south from the northern end of Clifton Ings.
This place is very popular with young people in the summer, and it is common to see them swiming in the river, or swinging from a rope tied to a branch of the tree on the right.
Not yesterday though - as I turned north to follow the river in the opposite direction to this view, a biting northerly wind cut into me, and found me thinking that I would be glad to get home for a warm drink.
Thank you all for your generoud and thoughtful comments, they are much appreciated.
Dull days seem to be the norm at the moment, but at least for now the strong winds have gone.

It was certainly a chilly walk!
