Former Library, Great Horton, Bradford

Another shot from my tour around Great Horton, and another attractive stone building. This library was built in 1912 for Bradford Corporation, and opened in 1913. It remained in use until recently and has undergone little alteration during it's life.

Sadly, it is now closed and the library has been moved to be part of the village hall, and this building is advertised for sale. It is beginning to show signs of neglect. Hopefully a new use can be found for this building - it would be such a shame to loose it.

Great angle shot to show off the architectural details, great roof lines and window placement...indeed the decline of this building is starting to show

A great capture of this nice Library building.
( it is n`t that cold. +/_ min 5 C. but the water isn`t so deep. 3 cm. of ice is enough to skate, most times. ) )

Impressive capture of that now neglected building. It will no doubt take a small fortune to restore it. Such a shame when they are let go.

Lovely building and history. I, too, somebody will come up to buy it and preserve its features.

Thank you for all your comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.

This was one of several attractive and interesting buildings that I discovered which were disused. Really sad, but the quality of the buildings is a tribute to the wealth that once existed in this part of Bradford.
