I've been following the progress of the rebuilding of the road bridge at Tadcaster since it's collapse during the floods after Christmas 2015, so yesterday I went to take some more shots before the work was completed. While there I went for a walk beside the River Wharfe northwards towards the hamlet of Newton Kyme.
As I was leaving Tadcaster I passed this disused railway viaduct, which never had a train service over it. Some of the spans on the approach to the river featured in a shot last year - http://365project.org/fishers/365/2016-03-06 - and the history of the viaduct was recorded there.
The fog had just lifted and plants grass and trees were decorated by frost. It was a cold day, but I soon developed a warm glow as I progressed along the river bank. It was certainly a fantastic day for a walk.
Well, I'm stunned by the wonderful response to this shot - thank you all for your generous comments and favs, which put it on the Popular page! It felt really good to be out in these conditions, and your responses just added an extra sparkle to that.
Good question Tony - not sure where the boundary is between a bridge and a viaduct. This is definitely a viaduct though. There may only be two arches over the river, but there are numerous smaller arches of to the left of this shot across an area that is often flooded in the winter.
