Where is the sun when you need it?

As part of the restoration of Clifton Park in Rotherham, a new walled garden has been created, and amongst other features in the garden is this sundial. Sadly the day was a little dull, so I couldn't check if it worked accurately in it's current location.

The sundial was made by Samuel Walker, one of the early members of the Walker family who were to have such a major influence on the history of the town of Rotherham.

Samuel was 23 years old when he created the sundial, and it is thought that he made it as a wedding present for his younger brother Aaron when Aaron married Rhoda Wood. The sundial carries the date 1739.

Now where is the sun when you need it?
