A final shot from my Blackpool trip, this time featuring another unusual feature of the tram system - a double deck tram, known as a Balloon Car.
This car was one of a series built for the Blackpool network in the mid 1930s, and is seen here in it's traditional cream / green livery, and with Blackpool Tower in the background.
Thank you all for your generous comments and favs, which put this shot on the Popular Page.
Considerable effort seems to have been put into the restoration of the vintage trams still used, and it's nice to see them in such good condition. Double deck trams are not often seen in use now, although many closed UK networks used them and there are quite a few in museums.
A day riding the trams remains quite good value - £4.50 for an adult, £10.00 for a lamily, so perhaps next visit I will get a ride!
@ninaganci Thank you Nina - it's interesting to visit Blackpool in September or October when the promenade is decorated with illuminations and there are illuminated trams working. It makes a great evening of photography.
