Wildflower Garden, Homestead Park, York by fishers

Wildflower Garden, Homestead Park, York

Wildflower gardens suddenly seem to have become popular. There was much publicity in the local media earlier in the year publicising a project in Rotherham where 8 miles of dual carriageway have had wild flowers planted in the central reservations.

More recently there has been a proposal to seed the banks upon which York city walls are built with wild flowers. Many of the banks already have daffodils planted which give a lovely display in early spring. Wildflower planting would give a display of colour throughout the summer.

In this shot, on a smaller scale, this is a border in Homestead Park that has been seeded with wildflowers for the first time this year. I think it provides a really cheerful display.

Yes, it's a lovely display. I wonder where we'll be in a few years now that lots of weeds are being sown in common ground areas! Gardeners will be going mad! 😀

Wildflower gardens do look lovely and so colourful. It will really add colour to what would be a boring duel carriageway central reservation. .
