One of the objectives of yesterdays shortened Moorsbus trip was to get photos of the moorland heather in flower. There wasn't time to attempt the walk originally planned, but I did a walk across Spaunton Moor, north of Hutton le Hole, instead.
Much of the heather is already past it's best, with the purple carpet beginning to turn brown. There were some areas well worth seeing, and I was surprised to find several small patches of Bell Heather. This is the first heather to flower, and the first to turn brown, so it was a pleasant surprise to find this still with its lovely purple colour.

Although I wasn't able to do the walk that I planned, I did enjoy wandering over Spaunton Moor, and there is the plus that I already have a walk planned for a future day on the Moors! And who could fail to enjoy being out on the Moors on a beautiful sunny day.
@ninaganci Thank you Nina, and thank you for the fav. This is one of three different types of heather on the North York Moors, and it is the most brightly coloured.
