The central tower of the Minster is a landmark visible from many miles away both by day and by night. It was built between 1407 and 1472. As well as being a landmark it also gives an impressive view over the city and it's surroundings for anyone able to climb the 275 steps (some of which are narrow and steep) to reach the top. Sometimes visitors have been badly affected by the climb, and it has occasionally been necessary to airlift them from the top.
Beautiful and dramatic at night. Scary about people needing to be rescued but wonderful so many people want to put in the effort to make the climb...fav.
Dramatic capture of this impressive tower. It is wonderful that something so old is still a good landmark, and climbing to the top is possible, even if they need to be rescued

Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
York is very much a tourist city, with many visitors from around the world, which means that there are many visitor related services and many attractive buildings, some of which are floodlit like this - so we as residents get to enjoy what the visitor sees as well.
