Further along Stonegate, York, there is an interesting feature at number 35.
The shop front dates back to the 15th century, but our feature dates to 1682 when Francis Hilyard opened his famous bookshop The Sign Of The Bible. The building became known as the House of the Bible, with a distinctive wooden bible hanging over the front door, which is still there today, although the shop is no longer a bookshop.
Kathrine was moved from the HDU at York hospital to a surgical ward this afternoon, so they must be happy with her progress after her operation on Saturday night. It looks as if she will be staying in hospital for a few more days since there are more tests that they want to do.
The stories that can be told around older and historic buildings are so fascinating.
Katharine has been having some difficult days ....hope the journey is more gentle and she is soon home and recovering well.
I have never noticed this, will have to look carefully the next time I am in York.
Just catching up with the news on Katharine. So sorry she needed surgery, but hoping with you that this is the beginning of the end of it all, as you say, and she will begin to fully recover now. Sending so much love your way.
@will_wooderson Thank you William - this bookshop may no longer exist, but there is another one only around 100yds away, and a charity bookshop just around the corner!

Good news on Katharine.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated!
Katharine continues to make slow progress in hospital, but the hospital routine is making her rather tired.
