Barnitts Clock, York by fishers

Barnitts Clock, York

Barnitts is a hardware, homeware and gardening store close to the heart of the city of York. Over the years it has grown in size, taking over various neighbouring shops and extending the range of goods it supplies. It has also become something of a maze to wander around!

On it's exterior wall is this attractive clock, and a couple of interesting features. On top of the clock is a hammer and nail, obviously an indication of the shops origins as a hardware shop.

Below the clock is a cat, one of over twenty sculptures of cats on buildings around the city centre. A cat trail is available from the Cat Gallery on Low Petergate, or can be downloaded. I've never done the trail, but I do occasinally discover new cats I haven't spotted before, and the one in this shot is one of those.

@jesika2 These cats are quite elusive - there are over twenty, and I probably know the locations of about half of them. Could be a summer project to find the rest?
