This Queen Elizabeth flower shot was taken in the gentle evening light a few days ago. This flower was the first of a cluster that are opening.
My dad grew some of the Queen Elizabeth roses we have from cuttings of roses in his garden, and they have been part of our garden for around 40 years. They still produce lots of flowers, and it's not unusual for them to flower through summer and autumn and almost until Christmas.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
To me Queen Elizabeth roses will always be special, not only because they are so attractive, but also because of the link with my dad, who we lost just over 20 years ago.
