On my look around York city centre, I cam across a rather surprising sight. It isn't unusual to find umbrellas above Coppergate Walk. There is usually a different display each month during the summer, and there have been some interesting and varied selections.
This year we have umbrellas, and broomsticks. This is to mark the opening of 'The Hole in Wand', a former cafe transformed into nine hole mini golf course. The introduction on their website makes it sound quite an adventure:
"Visit the World’s Most Magical Golf Course in York’s Coppergate Shopping Centre in York, and take on 9 magical golf holes.
Along the way there will be bubbling cauldrons, magical portals, a giant picture frame where you become part of the painting…and can you do a Light Spell to illuminate the way in our dark hole?
At the end of your adventure you will find out if you have the magical powers of a Serpent, Basilisk, Unicorn or Wizard and every player will receive a magic potion gift to take home, plus hopefully find Grobblenook!"
This is an interesting example of the way city centres are being transformed, with a reduction in the numbers of shops and an increase in social activities.
Thank you for your comments and favs, they are much appreciated.
We haven't been to play yet! I think it would be much more fun to take the grandchildren to play when they are next staying with us.

Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
I didn't take part, I'm still quite reluctant to visit indoor places that are quite busy. There did seem to be quite a few people in there.

Thank you Bri - it is certainly better than seeing an empty shop!

Thank you Vesna - it does seem quite a successful venture.
