Our walk through the grounds of the Escrick Park Estate took us south and then slightly west to a rather pleasant temple with a useful bench for us to sit and have a picnic lunch, while enjoying the view along Temple Walk northwards towards the house.
The temple was restored in 2002 with financial assistance from the UK and EU governments, and there is a pleasant carved stone in its base to mark the event. It is believed to have originally been built some time between 1750 and 1825, and it forms an attractive landscape feature.
Temple Walk is a pleasant route back towards the big house along a track lined on the western side by oak trees.
Although the big house can be clearly seen from the walk, it cannot be visited, since it is in use as a school.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
It was a lovely relaxing walk into Escrick Park, and after that we were able to have a look at some of the interesting features of the village before returning home.
